HOFFMANN Precoat filters ASF
are particularly suitable when other filter systems reach their performance limits when it comes to cleaning and tempering cooling lubricants, e.g. when processing grey cast iron, hard metal and HSS.

Filter grade from up to 3 µm
Specifically designed for ultra-fine and clear filtration of oils, synthetic solutions, process water and other liquids where a consistently clear filtrate with nominal filter finenesses of up to 3 µm is required.

Automation tailored to your needs
HOFFMANN precoat filters can be used as individual or centralised systems with fully automatic control.

Generously dimensioned tanks
To ensure a continuous supply to the machine tool, HOFFMANN precoat filters are equipped with generously dimensioned soiled and clean tanks.

Reliable cooling during continuous operation
The clean tank usually incorporates a cooler that tempers the cooling lubricant to the temperature required by the processing machine. Additional, separate cooling circuits, e.g. to provide spindle or motor cooling, are possible.

Manuell, semi- and fully automatic precoat filter

Manual precoat filter:

Manual precoat filters are suitable for both small-scale laboratory and pilot plants, as well as for high-precision gearbox test benches. After a single initial precoating (formation of the filter layer using filter aids), the filter can be operated for long periods with minimal maintenance. Our compact manual pre-coat filter is ideal for applications where only small amounts of shavings are produced. It is temperature-resistant and designed for batch processes, as it is ready for immediate use even after long periods of inactivity.

Semiautomatic precoat filter:

Once a stable filter layer has formed, the system operates reliably, with a long service life and consistent filtration quality. The operator only intervenes where necessary, e.g. when starting the process or during cleaning.

Fully automatic precoat filter:

Our fully automatic precoat filter ensures maximum process reliability, the highest level of reproducibility and minimal operational effort. From the controlled precoating of the filter layer through filtration to cleaning and recoating, every stage of the process is automated and precisely controlled.

Here you will find explanations and clarifications of some frequently asked questions and terms used in filter technology.

Precoat filters are used when the highest required filter fineness is coupled with difficult filtration properties. An example is the abrasion occurring in the grinding oil during the precision machining of cast materials. The grinding dust contains very finely distributed graphite which quickly leads to blockage of filter media. A filter cake with these fine particles is difficult to pass through and has a large pressure loss. Therefore, a cake-forming filtration would consume considerable energy here and would be very ineffective in this sense.
