Task:

Implementation of a coolant moderating system at ten machine tools

  • Integration of a temperature regulation system in three coolant plants
  • Coolant: oil
  • Power requirement for each plant - 100 kW
  • Room temperature (machine tool building) closed-loop control
  • Air-conditioned installation room (technical control center)

Design:

  • Split-design refrigeration system
  • Refrigeration set for each plant with 100 kW reciprocating piston compressor
  • R134a refrigerant, free of CFCs
  • Tube-sheet evaporator that can be cleaned
  • Air-cooled finned liquifier with speed-controlled fans on the roof of the technical control center
  • Open- and closed-loop control by the PLC system for the overall plant, fault analysis and remote maintenance by means of modem

Results:

  • Uniform coolant temperature regulation directly related to ambient temparature conditions with variable parameter settings
  • Low noise emissions thanks to the use of controlled fans
  • Environmentally friendly design thanks to the use of refrigerants free of CFCs
  • No additional thermal input into the air-conditioned technical control center
