Chillers

Temperature control of coolant is necessary to meet the requirements for the high quality demanded by machine tool operators. Unwanted thermal fluctuations resulting from heating of the coolant must be prevented to minimize scrapped items during manufacturing.

HOFFMANN recirculation chillers maintain and cool the temperature of:

  • drilling oils
  • hydraulic fluids
  • carrier oils
  • emulsions
  • water
  • dielectrics
  • and other fluids

Uses:

  • Machine tools
  • Hydraulic systems
  • Tempering and anodizing baths
  • Injection molding machines
  • Plastics processing machines
  • Vacuum systems
  • Transformers
  • X-ray systems
  • Erosion machining systems, etc.

Our state-of-the-art chiller units are all charged with the R 134 a refrigerant that contains no CFCs. Only materials with low reaction levels are used for the components which come into contact with the liquid being cooled. Designs with air-cooled or water-cooled motor-driven compressors can be selected.

The electric control system is located in a fully enclosed, dust-tight IP 54 switchgear cabinet, containing all of the required switching, regulating and monitoring devices, including the adjustable contact thermometer. The entire system is completely wired and ready for connection to a 400 V, 50 Hz, 3 phase or 460 V, 60 Hz, 3 phase, PE (no neutral conductor required) power supply system. The design complies with all applicable regulations and codes for industrial equipment.

Immersion-type recirculation chiller (ERK)

The medium is cooled by means of coils of tubing located below the base panel of the cooling system. Effective performance provided by air-cooled immersion chillers depends on the room air temperature (ambient temperature) and the temperature of the medium. The lower the ambient temperature, and, thus, of the available cooling air, the higher the unit's performance level. The ideal working temperature can be set to ensure uniform manufacturing quality.

All units of the ERK-V series are fitted with hermetically sealed motor-driven compressors and in the standard versions can be used for media temperatures up to+32ºC in ambient temperatures up to 38ºC. Even higher temperatures can be achieved using open or semi-hermetic motor-driven compressors.

Continuous flow through chiller (ODRK)

The coolant to be cooled is transported in the heat exchanger housing by means of a pump. The spiral, finned tube coil through which the coolant passes is located inside this housing. The coolant flows around this coil and is cooled when it exits the housing. The ideal working temperature can be selected at the continuous chiller as desired within a range of +5 to +40ºC.

Advantages:

  • Thermal stabilization
  • Reduction of scrap production
  • Enhancement of service life
  • Increase in production
  • Savings in overhead costs

We supply our recirculation chillers in compact designs ready for connection to the system, meaning that specialized installation personnel is not necessarily required.

Our application technicians will be glad to assist you with any questions or suggestions you may have. Quality, customer intimacy and on-time delivery is standard practice at HOFFMANN.
