Precoat filters

HOFFMANN precoat filters meet even the toughest demands. Duty cycles of up to several days are achieved through special design of the filter surface. The service life is enhanced considerably when used together with a magnetic separator filtering ferritic particles and the consumption of filtration aids is reduced substantially.

 

HOFFMANN precoat filters operate based on the filter cake and deep filtration principles. Filtration down to 3 µ is possible.

Depending on the task at hand, our precoat filters are available in several variants:

  • manual
  • semi-automatic
  • fully automatic
  • horizontal or vertical arrangement of the filter plates

HOFFMANN filter vessels are manufactured in compliance with the German pressure vessel directive.

Dirty coolant is forced through the filter plates coated with filtration aids.

During the filtration process the so-called filter cake builds up on the filter plates (from impurities trapped by the filtration aids). This helps to enhance the filtering efficiency during the filtration process even more. When the filter cake reaches a defined size the flow rate of the filter begins to decline, the pressure in the filter vessel begins to rise and the filter plates must then be cleaned. Cleaning is performed either manually or fully automatic, depending on the design of the unit.
